Propylene glycol monostearate(PGMS) is the result of the reaction of stearic acid with propylene glycol esterification, the product of the reaction is a mixture of monoester and double ester, and Propylene glycol monostearate can be obtained after distillation. It can be concentrated at the interface and change the interfacial tension, but can merely slightly decrease the interfacial tension; In addition, it does not have strong emulsifying capability, thus is rarely used in solo, normally the Propylene glycol monostearate is combined with GMS, working synergy can achieve to improve emulsification. Commonly used in the foaming agents of desserts and cakes.

White to light yellow solid, can be in the shape of powder, granule, and wax. PGMS is a lipophilicity emulsifier, insoluble in water, dissolved in ethanol, ethyl acetate, chloroform, etc.. Melting point: 38-48℃, HLB value:2.3.

Product Application:

Propylene glycol monostearate(PGMS) has outstanding foaming capability and is a good oil soluble emulsifier.

1. In food industry, used in whipped cream and combined with monoglyceride can improve the beating rate of the cream and foam holding.

2. In margarine(butterine), shortening, it can prevent splashes, improve cream beating, and prevent oil and water from tearing apart, improve its processing performance.

3. Can be used to prevent the starch in bread and desserts from retrogradation.

4. Used in ice-cream so that to increase the high expansion rate and retention, keep the exquisite, exceptional taste of the ice-cream.

5. In everyday chemicals, normally in creams or ointments, can increase the lubricity and silkiness, stability and sustainability.

6. In medical industry, can be used to make the emulsifier and stabilizer of ointments, emulsions and suppositories.

7. In fermentation industry, it can be used as the defoamer of honey, granulated sugar concentration, lotion.

8. Can also be applied in bakery, fried snacks, complex seasonings.

Usage and dosage:

Usage: melt with the heat and combine with materials or melt it to the hot oil.

Dosage: 0.3-2g/Kg
